The overall aims of this study-unit are threefold. First, it helps students to explore the transition of Human Resource Management from bureaucratic structures to learning organizations. Students are given the opportunity to explore the different HR models and stages across this continuum. Secondly, it seeks to provide students with the key functions, roles and responsibilities of Human Resource Management practitioners in an ever-changing and dynamic environment. This is expected to contribute towards a skills set portfolio which is considered crucial to lead successful HR operations and strategies in both public and private enterprises. Thirdly, it strives to configure a framework wherein fundamental HR best practices in the field of HR planning, recruitment, induction, performance, training and development, are laid out.
