Real face of beauty salons in streets of Pakistan.
Pakistan’s beauty industry is a huge market and it has lot of money in it. It is unsupervised. The actual number of beauty salons is hard to come since most small beauty salons owners shy away from registration. Only 40 beauty salons in Pakistan are registered.
Every street and Mohalla in Pakistan have at least dozen beauty salons. It is easy and cheap to open salons in the country. But most troubling is the exploitation of labour laws in Pakistan. Mostly Teen Agers are working in this industry are under waged and overloaded.
Mostly women who adopted this profession are uneducated or from poor families or from conservative families and are only allowed to work in offices where males are not working. Mostly beauty salons give low salaries which violates the legal wage rate in Pakistan.
