I have lovely memories of spending quality time surrounded by books in the British council library in Islamabad in late 1980s and early 1990s. It was unfortunate that the libraries were closed and a while generation grew without having access to this quality library. I was excited when they announced reopening of British council library in Karachi and Lahore. The membership procedure is simple and details are available online. It's a book lovers heaven which offer quality books and events for all age groups. Is located in a high security zone so the entry is nothing like a good library abroad but once you enter it's a total different world. High quality audio visual arrangements, multiple workstations, quiet areas and an excellent café on-site to enjoy a cup of coffee and snacks with a book in your hand. They have many events every month which even non members can attend after registering. If you are based in Karachi and haven't become a member of British council library then you are missing out Highly recommended

The British Council Library is one of the finest library in my opinion. With a wide range of facilities, one can spend more than 2 hours at this place. There is an on-site Necos with a wide ranged menu. This is a good place to come and study as there is absolute no distraction. The library hosts many events which are interesting. Timings: 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Personal favorite place to spend my time.

The library lack professional and technical book collection, although the library facilities including digital is up to the international library standards but the space and book collection needs a lot of attention. Being a UK student and having seen some of the top of the world libraries there, British Council library was a huge disappointment for me. Also considering that it's a library, they only have a single a floor being only able to accommodate a handful of readers.

A very decent place where you can have a good time for your study purpose.

The library is fantastic and the facilities offered are state of the art. One thing that i absolutely love about this place is that there seems to be a new addition to the facilities everyday. The fee is yearly and quite nominal. Their book collection is vast and very impressive. The librarians are incredibly professional and highly educated. The only downside (for people looking for pin drop silence) is that it can get a bit noisy at times, as this library encourages social activities.
