In a society filled with illiteracy, where human rights violations go unnoticed and women are still treated as they were in the Dark Ages, organizations such as Darul Aman in Lahore are a ray of hope for the oppressed and needy. Darul Aman is located at 36/30-E near police station Nawan Kot, Band Road, Chowk Yateem Khana, Multan road Lahore. It has been providing sanctuary for a number of poor helpless women and children for the last 8 years. The Women who come there are the victims of different problems such as kidnapping, violence from husbands, and clashes with their families etc. The center provides them with a peaceful environment and takes care of their basic need such as food and clothing. Doctors and Psychologists are present to take care of their health and entertainment is also provided to lighten their mood. Darul Aman offers education and skill training to help the women become able to stand on their own feet. Primary education is also provided for children who are present with their mothers. Many residents of Darul Aman are married or divorced and the organization helps arrange marriages for those who wish to start a new life. The organization is funded through trusts and charities.
