The District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Gilgit is the largest medical care facility in the entire Gilgit-Baltistan Region. It has now latest CT Scan and MRI facilities for indoor patients. It's emergency unit is open 24/7 with on-call specialists and on duty medical staff. It's dental department is now treating patients with minor procedures, root canals and extraction with sterilized equipments. After the major upgradation and face-lifting of DHQ there is an increase in Daily walk in patients even coming from outside Gilgit city. There are still few issues besides the improvements, like you cannot get medicine here rather you have to purchase it from pharmacies outside the hospital. There is usually long wait for opd checkups. Overall the doctors are highly qualified professionals.

Doctors are very good and highly qualified. Being a government hospital the fee is very nominal, wards are good in cleanliness. They also offer ct scan here as well as MRI. no other hospital in gilgit has MRI except DHQ gilgit. Staff are also good and cooperative. Being district headquarter of gilgit there is always rush here. So you have to come early for your treatment.
