Reverse Osmosis Plant is designed to remove dissolved contaminants from the water source. It works by passing water through a semi-permeable membrane under the applied force.
Osmosis is a natural process in which water flows to concentrated region from diluted area. No energy required for the osmosis process. Besides that, reverse osmosis which is reverse of the osmosis process needs energy. Greater pressure required then natural osmotic pressure for removal of dissolved minerals or ions. In that process, the pressure is applied to a concentrated water region. Water molecules passed through the RO membrane but it traps contaminant molecules i.e. dissolved solids. After removal of dissolved minerals, this water referred as de-mineralized water.
