The Hustle and bustle of Barkat market in Garden Town, Lahore is no different to other such markets in Pakistan. In recent years Barket market has developed from a shopping market into a food market. Of course, there are numerous non-food outlets but the evening sees the market transform into a hugely popular food market. Whether its 4x4 or a saloon, or a motorbike or a bicycle or even those on foot. As soon as you enter the market, the street waiters run to grab your attention. Shouting out the speciality their restaurant is offering. They don't waste too much time in trying to persuade you, as soon as they realise you are not interested, they hunt for the next customer. From ultra-fast food served to you in a jiffy, to sit and eat and all in between, you will find them here. Of course, there are tons of other shopping experiences from opticians, to toy stores, booksellers to stationery shops, street watch repair, pharmacies, dentist, shoe shops, sports shop, computer shop, fruit shops, shoe repair, clothes makers, etc etc etc. If you are from overseas and you have a delicate stomach and you want to eat from this particular market, I suggest you have some anti-diarrhoea tablets at hand because you may well need them that night. All though I have to say that food cooked on the open fire is far safer to eat then other types of food.

Review

Went today to get the regular breakfast (bun and butter) which i get atleast twice a week from here. I was the only customer in the shop as it was still early. I asked Mr. Ilyas who was behind the counter to spread the butter and he refused saying he wont do it. I even told him that im a regular at thi bakery and always ask the butter to be spread on the bun and you guys do it, yet he still refused to serve me. However a huge appreciation to Mr. Kasif who was on the cash counter. He came out of the cash counter and went behind to serve me and get the butter spread over the bun. Even though im greatly impressed by Mr. Kashif's customer support, Ilyas still needs to learn how to treat it's regular clients

** Gourmet Bakery Review ** This bakery is located in Barkat market, opposite MCB Islamic Bank. Credit cards are accepted. Service is good. Availability of some items are not good. They have vast variety of items like bread, cake, and other ready made food items. Overall it's a good place for the bakery items shopping.
