The original name of this gate was Masjidi gate but later people began to call it Masti gate. Some stories say that there was a royal guard appointed on this gate Masti Khan Baloch after whom this gate was named. Some great buildings like the Mariam Zamani Mosque, the well restored Barood khana Haveli and some famous shrines are situated nearbye. Nearby Moti bazaar is thronged by the shoppers almost all night,because its customers come from other cities during the night. Some wrestlers Akharas are also seen near it.

Masti Gate is a historical place of Lahore. This gate is one of the old entrance to old city Lahore. Masti gate was used for Elephant Shower in Mughal Empire.

It is a gate of Lahore Fort. It is often closed whenever I visited here . It is very beautiful.
