Tollinton Market built in 1864 under the support of Queen Victoria; it was originally constructed for the purpose of holding internationally acclaimed Punjab Industrial Exhibition. Currently this building named as ‘The Lahore City Heritage Museum’. It consists of 3 galleries namely: the Sultanate, Mughal and Sikh/ British. Now halls of the building are used for holding certain cultural events by the museum or its sister organizations such as the Fine Arts Department of National College of Arts and University of Punjab.

Lahore Museum very important historical place. Historical Thing's displays very well. Its foundation Stone laid by Prince Albert Victor, the grandson of Queen Victoria in 1890 and Bhai Ram Singh, the architect designed its building. General Information Entry Fee: students: Rs.20/- Adults: Rs. 50/- Foreigners: Rs./- Camera: Rs./- Lahore Museum famous not only in Pakistan but all over the world people wants to visit and get information about history. Lahore Museum stands out prominently among-st the best accomplishments in the architectural history of South Asian Subcontinent.

Great collection however, the labelling of the articles left much to be desired. In most sections there was too little information while in others it could be made a bit more succinct and interesting. There were no maps or directions to navigate the museum. Some sections were closed off without any apparent reason (as there didn't seem to be any maintenance going on). We wanted to purchase a book about the museum as a souvenir but the shop was closed.

Visited the Lahore Museum on the spur of a moment. However this is one of the best places in Lahore. A well managed well decorated, informative and historic place to visit in Lahore. You will find yourself lost in history in this place. Quran Karim Library, Freedom movements picture library, Old Post Stamps, Coins, Buddha, Hindu, historic statues, remains from ancient history and many more can be found here. The ticket is only for Rs. 50 for male and there is discount for students too. I have been in Lahore for many years however I have observed most of the people near to museum ignore it. But I will suggest a must visit to this place. It is as interesting as a beautiful hilly area. You can spend days looking through the history here. Good effort of Government to manage this place well.
