St. Mary’s College rawalpindi

A shell of its former self. St Mary's Academy was once the pioneering institute of modern education in the city. Having being a student here for 11 years, I can vouch for that. From its prime (under Sister Eileen) to the gradual waning (Cecil Chaudhry onwards), I saw it unravel. Internal tussles and financial problems have rid this institute of its best assets - the teachers. Discipline maintenance has also drastically fell away. It will always have a special place in my heart but, as much as I would like to, I won't recommend this institute in its present, mutated form.

I have been studying in this college for 2 years from 2014-16. I have a lot to say about this college. First of all this college is only an empty shell of its former repute. There's a shortage of teachers in the college due to the fact that the teachers aren't being paid their salaries. Most of the good and qualified teachers left the college in between sessions to go and look for jobs elsewhere. There is no proper schedule that the teachers follow to complete the yearly syllabus in time before the board exams. They all teach the way which they deem fit and often end up coming up short and the students are left with to complete the leftover course on there own. The teachers efforts are average at best. No encouragement or extra attention is given to the students. Some of the teachers even use dirty language and call students foul names just for fun. Here i thought that the adults are supposed to serve as an example. The other college staff such as the security guards and the clerks openly gossip and pass comments about the students. They are also allowed to smoke inside the campus which i believe is highly inappropriate thing to do in front of the students. The principal and the vice principal also drink alcohol in their respective offices. Now overlooking this college's academic shortcomings, there are also no extra curricular activities whatsoever. No sports, no events or competitions of any sort. Most of the things they have mentioned in the prospectus are purely lies. Believe me when i say that this college's sole objective is to rake in as much money as they can from the students. Most of the students who have passed out of this college have not even been returned their security fee. I have made a huge mistake by coming to this college. Please if you value your education, dont come to St mary's college. Its a complete and utter waste of money and time. This college is on the verge of bankruptcy because no new students are showing up. One of the worst things about the staff is how they personally target some of the students with taunts and insults. Mistreating them and showing rude behavior. They provide very poor education. No efforts are made to ensure discipline and good conduct within the college. There are absolutely no extra curricular activities.
