I wish our own government will pay some attention to promote tourism in this area. All they did was to charge me 300 Rs. for my DSLR. However the sight is beautiful... Plan for a day to see all the scattered ruins, hike is easy.
Unfortunately, once you're there, you'll realize everything has been moved to Peshawar and other Museums. Remainings are the stone walls and locked-for-tourists spots. Not a single worth mentioning piece left there now. Sheer disappointment after hou travel through narrow streets of the city. Highly not recommended.
Well preserved, cops every where to make sure no one's writing on the walls. Really glad to see a heritage site well maintained

Truly amazing experience. Them 200 stairs definitely burnt some calories but was worth the view at the top. I was stunned by the tiny meditation cells and the view of monastery’s student accomodations at the hill top

It was a place which I am glad I visited. Such a rich historic place and in a way neglected by our tourism department. Such historical sites can add tremendous value to our tourism industry if marketed properly.
