US State Department has announced suspension of aids as well as that of security assistance to Pakistan until an appropriate action is taken against Afghan Taliban and Haqqani network. Accusing Pakistan of “deceit” and “lies”, US President Donald Trump warned Islamabad to take an immediate action or to bear the consequences.
In a recent tweet President Trump admitted giving more than 33 billion dollars as aid to Pakistan over the span of 15 years. He accused Pakistan of returning the aid favour with lies and deception. Moreover he also blamed Pakistan of providing safe haven and refuge to Afghan Taliban.
“Today we can confirm that we are suspending … security assistance only to Pakistan at this time until the Pakistani government takes decisive action against groups including the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network. We consider them to be destabilizing the region and also targeting U.S” – President Donald Trump.
Although Pakistan Foreign Ministry could not be reached on the spot, yet Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mr Khawaja Asif, on Geo Televeision, reported to have said that, “He has tweeted against us and Iran for his domestic consumption. He is again and again displacing his frustrations on Pakistan over failures in Afghanistan as they are trapped in dead-end street in Afghanistan.”
