The General Post Office (GPO) is situated in G-6 sector of Islamabad. It is government's entity. That's why the rates of mail delivery and other facilities are very low as compare to other private courier companies. In addition to mail delivery many other functions like money transfer, motor registration etc is being done here.

Typical Government Organization. I have my vehicles registration at this office. No doubt much cheaper but being non-resident of Islamabad I faced problem of cooperation from this office and being asked to visit very next day instead of being served. Accessible and much prominent place.

Typical gov office... They don't care if you are in a hurry or what.... but way cheaper and economical then pvt courier companies and good service as well

A better option instead of private courier services. If you are in blue area or any other near place of G6 and needs to send mail come here and send mail in a cheaper price

This is the main Post Office in Islamabad. It is alright and gets the job done. Nothing fancy and neither does it lack anything in terms of functionality. Uncomplicated and economical. What else do you want? The staff is of course, like any other government office, indifferent. So please don't expect a warm smile to welcome you there. They aren't paid enough. I, however, try my best to greet them well and improve their morale. They also have a railway booking counter now. They have tried to improve things here and there. It will take time. Overall, I'm quite happy with the place.
