Famous hockey player Naseer Banda was born on May 15, 1932 in Rawalpindi. Naseer Banda's real name was Naseer Ahmed. He used to play in the left-in position. He was a very fast player and once he dodged his opponents, it was impossible to catch them. He represented Pakistan in international hockey from 1954 to 1962. During this time he won two Asian Games and one Olympic gold and one Olympic silver medal. The reason for his fame was the goal he scored against India in the final of the 1960 Rome Olympics. Thanks to this goal, Pakistan won its first gold medal in the Olympic Games. Because of this feat, Naseer Banda was called the hero of the Rome Olympics. His other speeches also included Twinkle Star and Mickey Mouse. Naseer Banda died on March 20, 1993 in Rawalpindi. Naseer Bunda Hockey Staduim is Built up in Pakistan Sport Complex in 1984 by Late President Ziaul Haq Govt with help of China. Pakistan Hockey founderation Held and Conduct here many times National Hockey Team Training camp. Pakistan Navy National Level Team do their Practice Here as well. Capital City of Islamabad many local Reknown Teams , Nishter Hockey Club, Faisal Hockey Club, Red Tiger and Islamabad Tiger also Conducted their field Hockey Matches here. Locally and National Level many Touraments were hosted by this Small Staduim as well
