Computer information technology (CIT) is the use and study of computers, networks, computer languages and databases within an organization to solve real problems. The major subjects prepare students for application programming, networking, systems administration and internet development.This beginning course is designed for people who are at an entry level and want to learn a general
overview of current office database software, as well as be productive with simple tasks.
Topics include creating and using a database, querying a database, maintaining a database,
sharing data among applications, and creating reports and forms.The class will also demonstrate
the integration between hardware and software. Emphasis is on installing, configuring, troubleshooting and upgrading a PC and working
with computer users as an IT technician.This course also provides an introduction to
Analytics, or the automation of analysis, including an overview of qualitative and
quantitative analysis methods and methods used to automate these processes for speed,
interactivity, and quality (reliability and validity). Several examples of modern types
of analytics will be introduced and explored such as de ive approaches.
Each semester we seek out opportunities to work with real world companies, organizations
on campus, or public data to examine how they and/or we can more effectively leverage
existing data and how to redesign their data flows to set up improved data analysis.
