The EME college is situated on the GT road just past golra more towards peshawar. The premises and buildings of this college were confiscated by the Military rigime of Gen Zia in 1984, it used to be a Govt college of technology, by then it was the largest polytechnic institute of the country which constituted 12 technologies. It was a demise for the residents of this region that the GCT was permanently shut down with a presidential order. Now this college has been degree awarding institution under NUST and military administration.

A purely military campus, with strict rules and regulations which leads to the well grooming of cadets and nustians....there is a balance in grading and check on technicalities in course work, very mature, brilliant and capable students.... however, the hostel environment is not fair with a major problem of military rugging.

I simply love the college because profs are very good and helping, colleagues are very gentle, no campus politics, cafes are great, but here are some things I would like to mention No1. if you want to come in EME come as a GC, otherwise, if you are joining EME as an NC trust me you are going to have a very bad and third class citizen experience No2. Hostel expenses will raise every year without any explanation and you will have to pay them no matter if you have to sell your kidney for that. No3. Their are no student representatives in the college, contrary to other college/uni's what you have here is administration representatives, these representatives are known as corporals and sergeants , their prime duty is to defend every action of the battalion. additionally they are supervised by the battalion for the ragging of the juniors, and these appointments are appointed on the basis of your father's rank in army, or else the most chuku(lifter) guys will get the appointment. no4. If you have any issue related to hostels you cannot go directly and talk to any concerned authority, you will have to go through the chain of the corporals and appointments to get your smallest problem solved, problem will get solved if it is the problem of the masses, for the majority of the problems you will have to write an email to the rector NUST to get you issue resolved. TIP : if you have any relative who is an officer in army, than your life is going to very easy you can simply get your thing done by a simple call and hostel manager will quickly reply to that , otherwise he won't let you in his office.

1/ 5

I graduated 4 years ago. At that time, there was a mafia of faculty and administration who blackmailed students, exploited their potential for their own benefit. Minority of faculty and administration (who were mostly young) were sincere and hardworking, they devoted additional working hours for the future of students. However, the rest of fraternity was full of moral and professional corruption and fed on buttering. A disgrace to glorious pak army and this country like many other institutions. You needed to have contacts or expertise in buttering if you wanted to have a smooth life as a student, it did not matter if you were honest and hardworking. Many cadets treated civilians and even some civilian staff as third class citizens, although they were not good in what they were meant for i.e. academics. Few of them had an exceptionally strong character and remarkable intellect who were able to survive in this corrupt institution. Truth may hurt, but the first step of solving a problem is recognising there is one, especially when there are bulk of problems. I hope situation is improved now, at least a bit.
