Let's string the wires of the past ages some 30000 years ago. This part of the subcontinent was centre of Buddhism. The archaeologists make celebrations whenever they find a chance of exploring things here no matter which of the world they belong to.Before the coming of Islam here lived Hindus..Sikhs..Sun worshippers etc.Shortly after the division of the subcontinent continent or we may say partition of Hindus and Muslims many of the areas of Peshawar were found enriched in sculptures...monasteries...worshipplaces of Sikh community in Peshawar.Excavations till now are in progress all over Pakistan but Peshawar province is on top in list of enrichment of remains. In Peshawar museum you will find samples of all those wonders used thousands years ago by different communities alongwith the Greek remains of Alexander........

The Peshawar Museum was founded in 1907 as "Victoria Hall," in memory of Queen Victoria. The two-story building was built in a syncretic architectural style consisting of British, Hindu, Buddhist and Mughal Islamic styles. The museum initially had only one exhibition hall, but two more were added in 1969–70. In 2004–05, the museum was further expanded with the construction of a new block with two galleries, two halls for the museum’s collection in storage, offices for the provincial directorate of archaeology, a conservation laboratory and a cafeteria. The historic exhibition hall was also renovated at that time.
