I must admit, I was the stupid one to suggest all my family members to open accounts with this branch. Now, after few years, all of them are fed up with the stuck-up staff and have opened accounts with other banks. My cousin, whom I also recommended, took his very valuable Forex account to Silk Bank.
For the good part, their online banking is really nice. But most other banks have started their online banking. SCB also offers many services for Forex accounts which other banks simply don't offer.
But rest of their banking is good as long as you don't visit their branch.
It is normal for them to take 40 minutes to cash your PKR cheque.
No matter how many times you get things verified and confirmed, once you leave the city/country, they won't let anyone cash your Forex cheque. One after another they'll make excuses and try to keep your money with them. It is for this reason I started looking for banking lockers to put my cash and Forex instead of putting it in account with this branch. Locker takes 5-7minutes to operate, while this branch takes as much as 75 minutes to process a cheque.
I routinely take a fully charged phone and headphones when I go to withdraw my cheque so I can browse online while they make me wait.
What's weird is that more than half of their staff keeps prancing around while only two of their tellers handle 98 percent of the customers waiting in the lobby. Their token system is crooked. They don't issue tokens for Forex cheques. Which means that it is very difficult to cash the cheque near holidays because their Forex counter is swarmed by money exchangers. This is one of their busiest branches yet it is so mismanaged.
There are at least 3 more tellers sitting idle at other counters who can be easily engaged during peak hours.
If you have any foreign source of income, they'll torture you to their capacity. They will cite made-up state bank laws which, for some magical reason, other banks aren't aware of. On more than one occasion they withheld my salary for verification even though I have verified multiple times. One of my contractual employers refused to employ me while claiming that they find it very difficult to remit my salary.
I have consulted managers from other banks who aren't aware of any such laws.
Moreover, their tellers disappear from their counters further slowing down the que.
They gave me 3 contact numbers for the branch which they never pick up. They frequently change your RM so you never have anyone to report your problems. They will definitely ruin your day if you visit their branch.
My advise... Please don't visit this branch or open account with this bank. If you really really have a life threatening emergency and you really really have to visit the branch.... Please take an anti-depressant and a pain killer before entering this branch.
Edit: they started tokens for forex counter as well. But the token appears on PKR counter , so you walk up to the PKR counter and tellers states the obvious : This counter is for PKR only please wait until that forex counter guy, who disappeared for no reason, comes back.
